Home sweet home

I'm back, safe and sound from Toronto.

Between the murder at the hotel, the smoking room, the wildcat transit strike, the smog advisory and the fact that my presentation wasn't exactly packed with people have me looking back on the trip as being less than stellar in many ways. The highlight was definitely the time with my family.

My laptop has started making a strange buzzing noise... I packed it well and treated it gently, but may have to have it checked out soon... Hhhmmm... Can't imagine life without the laptop!

A strange blessing though... I checked my backpack as luggage, only to discover once I was back at my car that the little pocket in the front that contained my keys and a few other sundry items was completely open -- and everything, including my keys, was still in there! How they managed to stay in, as the bag was being thrown around by airport staff, is completely beyond me -- but I sure as heck am grateful for it!!

I bought a copy of The DaVinci Code at the airport today. I only have about 20 pages to go, so I'm going to finish the book and call it a day. Happy to be home...

Excuse me - the murder at the hotel?

Now I'm really excited to see you back safely.

Hi Sarah,

I'm glad your safe at home, and you didn't loose anything in transite!

Maybe your lap top got somehting jarred loose? It probably does need a check-up.

I loved the Da Vinchi code! I couldn't put the darn thing down, it was just that exciting! I hope you enjoy it too!

Sarah, the trip may not have been the break (or the conference) of a lifetime, but you got some great experiences out of it. When things take unexpected turns, you find out what you're really made of (and what it's like to snuggle with an oversized cat, an experience no one should miss) -- and the blog at least is so much the better for it!

I guess we'll all start asking you what you thought of the DaVinci Code. Personally, I found the theory compelling, but the writer did absolutely nothing to match it in terms of style. I'd say more or less the same about the film, but I thought the locations did a lot to make up for some of the lustre that the actors lacked.

Glad you're back, Sarah. That must have been disappointing about the lecture - better luck next time. I guess sometimes it pays to get all prima donna on the organizers and make sure you're there. You could always flex your muscles at them. ;-)

I loved the Da Vinci Code - I think because it was intellectually interesting. Lots of puzzles to it.

I'm glad you are back safe too - it's always nice to get home and back to routine.

I saw the movie last week and thought it had too much unreal puzzle solving, but interesting info on religion (have to ask Craig).

Sounds like you had a taste of what M. lived as a daily adventure for a couple years living in Scarborough!

Safe and sound is good.
Welcome home!

You were living life on the wild side. Don't you feel more adventurous now staying in the unsafe part of town? Glad that you made it out alive.

Wild and crazy trips always make for a great blog! I gotta be honest, it was hilarious reading it, and not having to be there! Glad you're home safe.

Toronto is the big smoke...in every way. It's not my favourite place that's for sure.
