Day six of rest - Back to normal tomorrow

So, it won't be quite a full week of rest, but that is OK. I feel much more like myself now and I am glad I took this week off. I did some research on overtraining and I identified with pretty much every symptom I read about, so chances are good that's what was going on.

Tomorrow though, I'll ease back into activity.

Well... sort of...

See, on doctor's orders, I have to run tomorrow.

Yes, you read that right.

I have the ultrasound of my tibia on Tuesday, to see if there's any soft tissue damage there. The sports med specialist told me to go out for a run and "get the tissue good and aggravated, so we can get a good look at what is going on".

Well okey dokey!

I will take that knee brace out for its first real run tomorrow.

After not having run in so long, I am not sure if I'll be able to do much... I suspect my cardiovascular health has taken a bit of a nosedive... so I may have take it easy. We'll see...

I have this feeling I'll be setting up an appointment with my physio guy for later this week, after I've followed those particular doctor's orders!

Oh yeah... and as if that's not enough to jump back into the swing of things with, tomorrow night, I start swimming lessons!

Big day tomorrow!

Hi Sarah,

Did I ever tell you my fourteen year old daughter is also named Sarah?

Anyway go easy with that first jog. I bet the water will feel good after what you have been through with your knee.

Oof, hoping for no pain on your run, it's ok to walk you know. Gosh, wish you the best.

Removing the brace will certainly feel strange. Hope you can eventually toss it out!

I enjoy your blog...I see that you moved from the "right coast" to cowtown! Are you originally from NS? I grew up in Moncton and migrated west...and then back again. Now settled in NS.

Take care.

I hope that swimming does it for you. I just read an article about it being great for people with arthritis. But there's no indoor pool locally -- the disadvantages of a small town.

I got in the pool once a year ago, thinking that I'd just casually do a few laps like I did when I was a teenage. Oof! Felt like a manatee, only much less graceful! Anyway, it was PLENTY of cardiovascular workout. Have fun!

It sounds like progress, at least I hope so.
